Now that we have set our clocks forward and we're headed towards Spring, it's a great time to do a little refresh. Winter is a Yin season, meaning it's okay and actually good for us to slow down a bit, get more rest and get comfy. Usually, this also means less activity which is okay for a while but stagnation isn't ever great. Spring is coming so it's time to start moving our bodies a bit more and also changing some things in our homes. It's time to let in the sunlight and get out of that hibernation mode.
When there is less activity, energy stagnates or settles and doesn't flow. Usually the places the energy get "stuck" are places that you often see clutter collecting. Perhaps it's that laundry pile in the laundry room or an area in the kitchen where things seem to collect. Spring is a good time to de-clutter, re-arrange things and open the shades. It's also a good idea to sage the house or even open the windows on the days when it's a little warmer to get some fresh air into the house. You'll be surprised at how big of a difference that small task can make.
Then, take a look at your front door. Is it inviting? Do you need to repaint? Are your windows clean? Perhaps it's time to clean them. In Feng Shui, dirty windows means you're not seeing things clearly. What in your life do you need clarity about? Ponder that while you wipe the windows down. Setting intention for energy to move in a space or just USING a space that isn't regularly used can make a huge difference in how it feels. Too many of us are living with spaces in our houses that are not used except for special occasions. If you're one of those people, let's think of a new purpose for that space so that it can be fully utilized. This doesn't necessarily have to affect the bones of the house, oftentimes new furniture, lighting, paint, artworks, etc. can make a difference.
